Three Steps To Follow to Deal with Kids Biting Habit

The biting behavior is mostly among the age group of 1 to 2 ½ years of age and many experts believe biting is a symptom of a tense and anxious child.

Three Steps To Follow:

1… If the child bites while carrying him, put him on the floor at once and walk away.

2… If your child bites someone in your home, then Time Out should be considered, or maybe a smack.

3… If your child bites others outside the home, fuss over the injured giving all attention to the one suffering, then put your child in the car and take him home.

Many of our little darlings in their first year without warning sink their teeth into anyone carrying them at the time, and although it is not intended to inflict pain to others, but it is a habit that must be stopped.

It is important to make the little one aware that biting will not be tolerated and is not an acceptable type of behavior.

Putting The Bite On Biters…

Rather than raising our voice, getting angry or hitting the child, it is preferable to simply put the baby down on the floor.

This may need to be repeated often, but it doesn’t take the average baby long to work out what happens when he bites, and if he wants those secure loving cuddles he must stop the biting.

Little Older Toddler:

More than often the child next door is the one to experience the extremely painful biting attack, as the little toddler sinks his teeth into a soft and tender part of the child’s skin.

As soon as the parents are aware of biting incident, the one who caused the damage should be taken straight to his room, as a lesson may be learnt with some Time Out.

The Play Group Biter:

It is very common sights in many play groups, to have experience with the child biting behavior.

Suggestions:

Regarding the child who bites, move the child to a far corner of the room and totally ignore.

With the injured child, naturally getting the attention needed, and a favorite toy to play with.

As for the little biter in the corner, before long gets the picture realizing his biting behavior is the reason he is in the corner away from his friends.
